Hey everyone,

I hope you all are well. So, you probably may or may not know that I turned 25 years old on 9th May 2017. It was my silver jubilee birthday if it is an actual thing *laugh*. I didn't do anything special for my birthday, but since you all are like a family to me I wanted to share the tiny details with you.

So, my mum, my younger brother and me were the only people who attended the birthday. Since I wanted a mini party just with the family who was available at the time. The star of the birthday was the Princess cake by my dear brother, which I absolutely loved and so did everyone else who saw the pics. It was a bit too childish cake for a grown woman, but my brother knows I am still a little girl at heart and I never had any animated or special cake for any of my birthdays ever, so he wanted to fulfil my childhood wish.

The cake had layers of cream and chocolate and it tasted as good as it looked. So, definite thumbs up for that. There were two other of my favourite dishes along with cake, that is macroni and roast. I didn't dressed up or did anything special. I wore my no makeup-makeup look just for the spirit of my birthday.

This birthday was a lot special than my other birthdays because many friends and family actually remembered my birthday and wished me, which never happens *lol*. I am really thankful to everyone who wished me and made my day special.

As for gifts, I didn't get any gifts, I just received cash from the family, so I can buy whatever I like. I really appreciated that gesture because I am a very choosy person and I hardly like gifts given by others. However, you all know I am a big makeupholic and all the money will be going into makeup shopping. When I will buy everything I want to, I will share my birthday gift haul with all you guys.

This trend was once again witnessed when Tuscany Courtyard Italian restaurant made its way to the Lahore’s food scene with a bang at a Red carpet launch hosted by Natty and top Models. Located in MM ALAM Road area, the expansive multi-storied Tuscany Courtyard had the main road blocked as Lahorie's rushed to get inside. The restaurant, which has been designed by Ali Umer Alvi, has spacious floors. Inside, the restaurant has walls painted in subtle tones of beige and terracotta with big wide-paned windows that make one feel like they are sitting in an Italian villa.

Owners Khurram Khan, Faisal Khan and Sikander Bakhtiyar decided to open this restaurant after huge demand of Lahories and food lovers of the Punjab Capital and beyond. Tuscany name inspired the owners after their trip to Tuscany, a small village in Italy. Inspired by freshly baked, thin crust pizza and other Italian delicacies, the trio decided to open a place which would serve authentic Italian food instead of the regular desi/continental food most restaurants in Pakistan serve. “We have completely original Italian recipes, with a wide variety ranging from two tomato bruschettas to thin crust, speciality pizzas. We also have a proper Italian bakery on the premises,” said Khan. “The best thing is that in Islamabad you can make use of the view and weather, which creates the best ambience for a restaurant.” “ I love Tuscany Courtyard and I feel my favourite place in Islamabad just opened in Lahore made me happiest person ” noted Ayesha Khan a regular Tuscany goer .

Once again the patrons can look forward to savoury tastes and amazing service. Tuscany is going to offer value, taste and joy to those who seek a touch of the extraordinary in Italian cuisine. At Tuscany the offering menu items are sure to be with a wide range and will include dishes with bold flavours and fresh ingredients that can be enjoyed with absolute delight. And everything on offer will be relevant and delicious to modern Pakistani families and the diplomats from overseas.

The executive Chef at Tuscany, is a graduate from the Culinary Arts School in Switzerland and after working in 5-star restaurants in Dubai has taken over the helm at Tuscany. Of course the whole menu and the recipe perfection is done by none other than Mr. Khurram Khan, who has decades of experience in the food industry and is a master chef himself.

The fabulous Menu and a must for all to try out are the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad, the Beef Carpaccio, Two Tomato Bruschetta, a huge choice of Thin crust Italian specialty pizzas with choice of whole wheat or white crust, chicken and buffalo Paninis , Bianco, Rossos, polo Passanos, with a range of pastas from Spicy Fettuccine to Penne Mozzarella to Penne Arabiata to Fettuccine Alfredo. The steaks are highly recommended from Wild Shitake Mushroom to Whiskey River steak. And not to miss out on the Szechuan prawns, Prawns in garlic sauce and the Oven baked fish. The list goes on and you have to visit and check it out yourself.

The special dishes to look forward to are Wild Shiitake Mushroom Steak, Hot fudge skillet brownie, Bread and Butter pudding, Thai fiery Chicken, Tuscany special Pizza (Staggioni), Mushroom Melt Burger and Avocado & Shrimp Salad. And a must try should be their signature dishes the Grilled chicken with Jalapeno sauce and Polo Tuscan. For the desserts, hot fudge skillet brownie and bread & butter pudding would be a must order. Service, as always, should be superb and while the interior is exquisitely done (yes we did have a peak), the table settings have a comfort loaded touch of their own. And you need to keep in mind, that no matter what the occasion, Tuscany is available for social events that range from elegant to casual. Located at 5th road M.M Alam Road, Gulberg II, Lahore.

Note: I have personally tried Tuscany Court Yard restaurant located in Islamabad Kohsar market. The food is exceptionally good for Italian cuisine lover like me plus the decoration and restaurant is such a beautiful place to enjoy your meal at. Whether you are Lahore or Islamabad dweller, you should definitely check the restaurant out.

Today, I am going to review La Montana Restaurant, which is located in Damn e Koh Islamabad. I tried the restaurant for the first time last week and it's safe to say that my experience was very good. It is located right next to infamous Monal Restaurant and I have visited Monal restaurant a couple of times, but standard wise La Montana is far better.

I reached La Montana at 6:15 pm on a Sunday night. Immediately, we were received by the very welcoming manager and waiters that asked whether we would be interested in the Buffet that consists of more than 40 dishes. Buffet sounded like a good idea, so we opted for that. They comfortably seated us in the waiting room since the Buffet was going to start at 7:00 pm.

I wanted a corner seat to enjoy the view, but all were reserved

The waiting room was a nice sitting area with a full-sized aquarium, beautiful chandeliers and eye-catching decorations. I love fish, so the aquarium was a good time pass for me. My biggest pet peeve is bathrooms. No matter how great the restaurant are, the bathrooms are always a turndown. I usually travel long distances so a visit to the bathroom is necessary. However, the bathrooms in La Montana were clean and hygienic. So, I will give that a plus.

The buffet was supposed to start at 7:00 clock and they have outside sitting area with canopies and sofa style chairs with the million dollar view of whole Islamabad. We sat outside for 15 minutes because the dinner started late. There was a decent crowd since it was 25th of December and many people visited them.

The food was lavish with many varieties of dishes. There were 5-6 types of salads, sauces and chutneys. Desi cuisines like nihari, haleem, chicken karahi and mutton karahi. Chinese dishes including chicken manchurian, egg fried rice, chicken oyster, chowmen, steaks and much more.

My favourite corner

There was Street food variety too such as jalebi, chana chaat, dahi bharay and gol gapay. My favourite was the BarbQ section including malai boti, chicken tikka, seekh kebab and fried fish. Sweet dish section had gajar halwa, zarda, kheer and 6-7 kinds of pastries and cakes.

The standard and taste of the food were very good, not too spicy since I hate spicy food. The food tasted delicious and fresh and the staff assured us that the food was freshly made. The pricing was ok not too over the top like monal restaurant.

Their charges for the buffet was 1600-1800 for two people. We were three people in total and our final bill was 3800 including all charges. So, it was OK priced for me. Overall I liked the experience at La Montana restaurant and would definitely recommend you all try them out for sure.
