E.L.F. Contouring Blush & Bronzing Powder in St. Lucia - Review and Swatches

Today i am reviewing the Elf Contouring Blush and Bronzing powder in st. Lucia. When i bought it i had seen many nice reviews about this duo and i thought i need to have it. The main reason i bought this duo was for the bronzing powder. I am not a bronzing type of person i just prefer contouring my cheeks. And everyone claimed in there reviews that its a very pretty matte brown. Since it was inexpensive i thought why not have this as my first bought bronzing powder. Read below what i have to say about this product.

Product Description

"Create a healthy and natural glow all year long with the Contouring Blush and Bronzing Powder. The Blush highlights the cheeks to add a flush of color, while the Bronzer accents and contours cheekbones for beautiful definition. This convenient compact has just what you need to achieve a gorgeous glow anytime, anywhere." It comes in a combination of 4 different duo's.

Product and Packaging

The product comes in a sleek black plastic compact having a mirror on one side and products on other side. Since the compact is black it gets dirty very easily. On the back side there is a small sticker saying st Lucia which will help you identify the product among other similar packaged elf products. When you first open it there is a plastic film over the product as to save the powders from spilling and the mirror getting dirty. It is travel friendly if you don't plan on dropping it because i am sure if you will drop it even slightly the powders will break into million powder particles. It contains 84g of product which is very decent.

My Review

First time ever when i tried to use the bronzing powder with my brush the first thing i noticed was the fallout. Since its very chalky and powdery you can expect this from it but less product gets on brush and the more is wasted. When i applied it to my cheeks i expected a beautiful matte bronzer but turns out it is a medium warm brown powder with golden sheen. The sheen turned me off at once. I wasn't impressed that of all the reviews i have read every one claims it to be matte but infact it has sheen. So it will work best for you if you want a Golden Goddess bronzed face. It works best as a glowy bronzer as the product claims. I can see it working for ladies only from fair to medium complexion. Any more darker complexion and it will show just as a golden glow on your face. The blush is a very pale peachy pink color with small specks of shimmer and when you try to apply it to your cheeks you will only see the specks of glitter and shimmer and no color at all unless you pack it up with thousand layers. This blush will show up on your skin if you are very fair to light. If you are someone with medium complexion you will really have to layer it up to even show on your skin. And if you will try to blend it you will again be left with only shimmer on your face. If you are deep skin beauty you can use it as a highlight only. The bronzing powder does blends easily but the blush doesn't. It looks patchy and shimmery if you try to blend it. You can use the blush as topping off your cream blushes. They last on my face for 4 to 6 hours with minimal fading. If you will have any fine lines or pores these powders will sit in it. As you can see in swatches.

Swatch: (L to R) blush and bronzer (heavily swatched)

Pros

Glowy golden bronzer
You can use blush as a peachy highlight
You can use the blush as a shimmery highlight over your other blushes
Contains a mirror inside so you can do touch ups on the go
bronzer blends very smoothly
Lasts good 4 to 6 hours

Cons

Blush has no pigmentation
The powders are very chalky
The fallout is magnificent
Blush blends patchy
You don't like shimmery blush
You don't like glowy bronzer
You think the bronzer is really matte

Final Verdict

I would rate it a 3.5/5.
If it didn't worked for me it doesn't means it will not work for you too. I would recommend this if any of the above pros i mentioned will work for you. I will not buy it again. The Elf cosmetics introduced the new cream blush and bronzing duo. I will love to try it. I bought it for Rs. 650 from Trends N Brands you can pre order at this page or any other page you like.
Or you can shop and order from Elf Pakistan
