Queen Helen Mint Julep Masque - Review

Hi Girls‚

Today i am Reviewing the Queen Helen Mint Julep Masque. If you have been reading beauty blogs for long you will know how much this Product is raved about. So i had to buy it myself in order to try out if it is worth all the Hype or not? Read below what i have to say about this product.

Product Description

Our original, all-time favourite green masque instantly absorbs excess oil, extracts impurities and helps minimise the appearance of pores. After use, skin is deeply clean with a fresh oil-free feel and healthy looking complexion.

Product & Packaging

The Mint Julep masque comes in a plastic squeeze tube. It contains 227g of product which is enough to last you long. If you are travelling you can easily carry it in you bag for on the go deep cleansed face. It has a mint toothpaste scent and if you are as skeptical as me you will find its texture and appearance like the mint flavoured colgate toothpaste. Since its a clay mask it will dry in the tube if you will not close it properly. It will also be hard to squeeze it out if you wont store it in upright position. So i will suggest you to keep the tube in standing vertical position to avoid its opening getting blocked.

My Review

If you are someone like me with really dry skin you will know how far we stay away from clay masks since they tend to make our skin even more drier. But since everyone was raving about it even the people with dry skin so i had to get my hands on it. The Mint Julep Masque is hard to find in Pakistan. Only a few pages sell this. But you can also order it specially through facebook pages. When i finally bought it i was excited to use it. Me and my mom applied it on our faces simultaneously. I couldn't wait to had the promised results. It has a thick texture like clay masks do. When i applied it on my face it had very cooling tingling sensation on my face. And i was happy that it was refreshing. People who reviewed this mask suggested it to be good for sensitive skin. But i totally disagree. It was only 2 minutes while i was enjoying this mask that my face felt like it was burning. No it was not slight irritation it felt like my face was on fire and i had to take it off immediately. After removing it my face had these million red rash spots and it was not a pretty sight at all. On the other hand my mom since she don't have sensitive skin but have only dry skin was enjoying her mask. I asked if she can feel any irritation at all thinking i might have got an expired piece but she said she was totally fine. So i realised then that it may contain some ingredient that i am allergic to. I may remind you that i have super sensitive skin. I get a bad rash even after wearing jewellery so if you have sensitive skin but not as bad as mine then you can totally use this Mint Julep Masque. After reading all the ingredients carefully i came to know that i am actually allergic to mint. Now who is even allergic to mint? I know i am because every time i touch actual mint leaves or any green leafy vegetable i get a bad rash.

But that didn't stopped me from using it. I still had pores and black heads which needed the treatment. The next time i used it i only used it as a spot treatment or you can say as a T zone treatment. I am more sensitive on my cheeks and my chin as compared to my T zone. I applied it on my nose and the centre of my forehead where i have huge pores and blackheads. Its also my face area most prone to occasional pimples. Though my whole face is as dry as a dessert my T zone does gets slightly oily in summer. It does cleans my blackheads but not the deep ones. It reduces my pores to some extent but for what i use it the most is treating my pimples. When i get occasional pimple i apply it directly on the pimple in the form of a thick layer i let it sit there and dry and it stays there until it swipes off my face by sweat or water. Then i apply it again and again until the pimple is completely gone. I have found it as the fastest pimple reducing treatment. It does makes my T zone very dry after i apply it so i use a good moisturiser after washing it off. How i use it is i cleanse my face then i apply a thick layer of this on my T zone. Let it completely dry and hardened for 20-25 minutes and then i rinse it off with Luke warm water. I would say that this Mint Julep Masque works best for Oily/combination and acne prone skin. If you have dry and sensitive skin you can still use it but i will recommend to stay away if you have super sensitive skin as i do.
